Six thatched roof houses covered with tarpaulin sheets were burnt affecting 48 people including children in Garudubilli village on the 26 September 2018. The accident happened around 11.00 am when all the men were away at work and the women had gone to collect firewood. Some children were at school and the very young were with their mothers. Thankfully, there were no deaths or even injuries. However, everything was reduced to ashes in just 30 minutes. This community has been working in the stone quarry for many years. They migrated from Odisha state many years ago.
